Ode to Roses Part 2

Continued from my Ode to Roses below 🙂 :
And as your petals slip away, enfolded and entwined as one, your drying form reveals at last, the core is beautiful and whole… still at its base the same, and yet, ready to move on to better shores!

Dedicated to all the children attending to their mothers in their old age. To care for them now is a blessing, to return to them love in times of need, for their devotion to us, no matter how difficult the relationship. I pray strength for all the mothers and all the children!
Mother dear, oh mother mine I dare not dally in the fray, for need you have of help and thine obedient child obeys.
You were not always close to me although you held me on your knee, and bending low did kiss the brow of child grown into adult now.
Your punishment did serve me well to keep me fast and safe from hell. Encouragement did sometimes draw a circle ’round me –
feelings raw from worldly trials you kept at bay, or tried to some, on better days.
I brought you joy and sometimes, hither, I gave you naught but feelings bitter.
But Mother’s love be there despite the heartaches, follies and the blight of wayward children making way
For independence, Come What May!
And thither in the fight you stayed, abandoning not through all our days…
We come in time to serve you now and wipe and tend to your old brow, which once was knit, perplexed to find your infant child had his own mind.
So please forgive, as we thee do, the human frailties sin hath brought, for through the changes age hath wrought, we love thee still and always will!
Lord help us now to see their love is still with us as Thine above – t’will never fade but linger e’er, and now continue this our prayer,
“For health and strength and daily food we praise thy name, oh Lord.” For grace and love and strength to serve we give You thanks, oh God!
